Urgent live lobar lung transplant sought for Dawson Creek patient

Donna Chmelyk, a 41 year old wife and mother in Dawson Creek, needs a lung transplant due to cystic fibrosis. If two live donors aged 18 to 55 agree to donate portions of a lung, she could become Canada's first recipient of a live lobar transplant at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. Potential donors should contact Dr. Peter Borownoski to assess eligibility.

Chetwynd Swears In Mayor Lasser and New Council

At the December 6 1999 council meeting Chetwynd’s mayor Lasser and eight councillors were sworn into office with Jannene Disher administering the oaths. New committees were named and the annual provisional budget bylaw received three readings as the mayor pledged to advance tax relief, a five year plan and EDC projects.

Elks Hall Break-In and Vandalism Reported in Chetwynd

Chetwynd RCMP investigate break in at Elks Hall on December 9 1999 with extensive interior damage and theft of beer liquor and wine. Video footage aids identification and police urge witnesses to contact Cst Reinhold Weissbeck. Concurrent vandalism across Windrem Apartments and nearby streets leaves five cars damaged on December 10. Officer Paquette seeks information.
