Local Skating Club Plans Active Season in Chetwynd
The Little Giant Figure Skating Club, sanctioned by the Canadian Figure Skating Association since 1972, expects 60 skaters this season. Lessons cover Can-Skate, figure and power skating, with Kim Kwan and Barbara Watson as lead coaches. Budgeted season expenses reach about $17,000, most for ice rental. Funds sought via bottle drives, chocolate bar sales, and business sponsorships. The Chetwynd Pee Wee house team travelled to Hudson Hope December 1 to face Ft. Nelson Elks, losing 3 1. C Fowler scored the lone goal in the third period with an assist from C Stanly. On December 2 Chetwynd hosted the Dawson Creek RCMP house team and won 8 5. Scorers included C Aselson with four goals, Fowler with one, Lalonde one, Keutzer one, Stanly one and one assist. Assists went to S Kristoffy B McGraw and M Teepel.
