Downtown Revitalization Concept and Music Workshop

Mr O Callaghan announced at the Dokie School Christmas concert that Dominica Spera from New York will visit Chetwynd on February 11 1985. Spera, a top trumpet player, will give a workshop at Windrem School and a personal recital after a Vancouver stop financed by Northwest Music. Concept C for downtown plans two way traffic on 50th Avenue with plantings and a park plaza, stage one cost 536000, stage two 276000, diagrams on display and pending council approval.

ERDA pact signed by federal and BC ministers in 1984

Frank Oberle announces the Economic and Regional Development Agreement between the Government of Canada and British Columbia. Signed November 23, 1984 by Sinclair Stevens and Don Phillips, the 10 year plan aims to boost consultation and joint initiatives in Forestry Minerals Tourism Agriculture and more. Powder King Ski Village Opens In 1984-85 Season

Powder King Ski Village opens last week for the 1984-85 season. Located south of Chetwynd in Pine Pass, Rockies, near Highway 97, 800 to 1000 skiers enjoyed groomed powder runs on opening weekend. The area offers 14 major trails, 1000 acres of terrain, 40 acres of runs, and lifts with capacity rising from 2,000 skiers per hour after 40 more chairs. Crown land facilities will be replaced by permanent structures with a 1-3 year build window. Peter Graham Jr. serves as president.

$10 million phone project completes in Peace Country

B C Tel finishes a four year ten million dollar upgrade to a GTD 5 digital telephone system. The project adds new switching equipment and facilities at 1212 102nd Avenue and an office in Ponce with peripheral work to integrate local exchanges. The move centralizes services at 102nd Avenue and the industrial park plant centre, with expansion potential for a larger city.
