Inmate’s beating earns 75 thousand for estate
BC Supreme Court ruled taxpayers owe 75 000 to Gord Pete’s estate for harm suffered at Terrace Correctional Centre. Pete, 40, was beaten by inmate Michael Axworthy after a TV dispute, with his life ending in 2003 from pneumonia. Judge Williamson found systemic failures by Corrections Branch in handling the dangerous inmate transfer and supervision.
