The Lone Prairie Riding Club wrapped the 1980 riding season with gymkhana awards on November 22 at the club hall. Awards went to Mickey Mortensen for Junior High Points, Robbie Herrick for High Points All Around, Christine Rainey for Most Improved Rider, with Bette Beers accepting the junior trophy for Mickey.

Chetwynd council weighs baseball diamonds and zoning
Chetwynd Little League president Ron Moser urged the council to approve a third baseball diamond near the airport or rodeo grounds to host the 1983 playoffs. Developing the diamond would cost about $23,000. Council must also decide zoning changes for several parcels and discuss rezoning requests as part of an upcoming regular meeting.

Local artist Gene Cox displays charcoal sketches in exhibit
Gene Cox a lively self taught artist born in the Peace River country grows up on a Lone Prairie ranch. He has worked in logging carpentry bush work and surveying in Chetwynd and spent three months last spring as a cowhand. His charcoal study focuses on scenes wildlife and ranch life. He plans art school and enjoys horses karate and skiing. Stu and Rita Rix encouraged him to show his work and meet three artists at their exhibit.

Anzac route development advances amid contract uncertainty
