Phillips attacks labor board over union rulings
Industry Minister Don Phillips blasted the British Columbia Labor Relations Board for favoring unions after workers in several cases vote non union yet the board sides with unions He called small business protectionineffective and complained of intimidation and costly legal battles Phillips warned of recalling the legislature to override board rulings at the Tumbler Ridge townsite in northeast coalfields.

Surplus assets aid schools and theatre program plans
Education Minister Bill Vander Zalm announces districts may use a portion of surplus asset revenue for non shareable capital projects such as equipment, library supplies, and building improvements. Districts could retain 50 percent of shareable capital from asset sales or leases for non shareable accounts. Chetwynd Amateur Community Theatre plans Winnie the Pooh at Elk's Hall December 3rd and 4th. Community projects funded include jobs at the Chetwynd Information Centre and Walei Improvements with federal contributions of 10,701 and 24,840 respectively.

Employment centre to extend hours in Chetwynd
Echo notes plans for a five day a week Employment Centre in Chetwynd beginning in January with a new competition for an employment counsellor.
