Container shipment arrives in Chetwynd from Australia
The first ship containers for Coalition Mining arrived in Chetwynd on Aug 24 by British Columbia Railway. Unloaded by Lorne Dalke Trucking Ltd, the 40 000 pounds of mine equipment and conveyer belting and 10 000 roof support belts mark the start of a container series bound for the mine, shipped directly from Australia.

Village of Chetwynd receives $25,000 arena grant
The Village of Chetwynd was awarded a $25,000 recreational grant from the Provincial Government to fund ice making equipment for the new Chetwynd Arena. 4-H Horse Club Winners Celebrate Achievement Day
The 4-H Horse Club held an achievement day August 19 at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Campbell. Halter class results included Alfrieda Elden first Teresa Negu second Holly Ethier third and Sandra Schreiber fourth. Merits awarded to Cheri Campbell Patricia Campbell Rochelle Roller and Brett Farnsworth. Trail class results Rochelle Roller second Teresa Negu fourth. Merits awarded to Patsy Campbell Sandra Schrieber and Cheri Campbell. Brett Farnsworth showed well in Saddle Trail. All members judged. A lunch was served and the club thanks visitors for their interest.

Man and Resources meeting in St John Canada November 1973
In November 1973 about 1500 Canadians will meet in Toronto for a national conference led by the Canadian Council of Resource and Environment Ministers to set guidelines for managing environmental and natural resources in the coming decades. The program aims to involve Canadians in discussing how to balance social economic and ecological values while considering lifestyle, land use, recreation, pollution cleanup and park creation. A national workshop will be held in Montebello Quebec to prepare the conference agenda with provincial delegations, some aid for attendance, and regional BC workshops May through summer organized by the BC Natural Resources Conference to gather public input.
