Wind farm site study links location to BC power stability
SFU researchers in British Columbia assess wind farm siting to stabilize hydro reservoirs. They find northern Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii, and Cape Scott sites offer stronger summer wind, while overall capacity averages about four percent of provincial generation. Planners must balance wind, grid access, and environmental costs for 20 to 30 year output.
