The Story of Our History Book
The idea of publishing a History of this area began August 12 1987 when a meeting at Jean Campbells with Elma Tolliday from New Horizons formed the Chetwynd Area History Book Committee under the Little Prairie Heritage Society. Early stories recall Kate Edwards ranching in Wolverine Valley and others like the Johnsons, Frank Twidwell, John Mercer and George Mumford scouting Pine Pass for a railroad. A trading post and post office stood at Little Prairie, coal claims began east of the mountains shaping the early economy as the project gathered material from heirs and decade by decade history.
