Bondar Visits Chetwynd for Canada 125 Event with Roberta Bondar
Astronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar visits Chetwynd amid a community celebration for Canada 125. Preparations included library staff, a children’s questionnaire contest with Cara Westgate, Kyle Westgate, Seth Grover, Kimberly Mabius, and Tyler Deck receiving autographed photos, trees planted at the Peace Grove, and a 125 logo balloon by Kathy Lloyd of Canada 125. The program featured music from Experience Canada, a chainsaw sculpture unveiling, fire engine display, and a decorated Cenotaph stage. Bondar arrived with Hon. Frank Oberle and met Mayor Lasser, then climbed the fire truck for a view and urged women to pursue ambitious careers. She received a Canada 125 flag from a child at the Cenotaph. Jack Hannam served as Master of Ceremonies for the event.
