Garden Club baking winners crowned at Elks Hall

Judy Carlson reports the Chetwynd Garden Club held its annual baking competition at the Elks Hall on Friday August 13. Winners include Arlene Smith in breads and buns and Irene Arneson in cakes and the grand prize for her golden chif fon cake, with forthcoming contests in produce crafts and canning.

Local Bakeoff Results Highlight Trimmed Sweets

Three judges Inez Gonvick Ken Liebgott and Clara Moore evaluated samples in a community bakeoff. Irene Arneson claimed two top prizes with cherry revel and marble fudge, while Shirley Weeks impressed with lemon pineapple and coconut creams and coconut cream pie. Jean Quinn won for carrot pie. Colette also placed.
