LP strike forces storage use and layoffs across industry
Tracy Wr reports Louisiana Pacific and related pulp and timber operations endure a strike impact. Pulp storage fills 2000 tonnes at Gear o Rama, with 10 days to two weeks of product. August 16 layoffs followed. Fibreco in Taylor, Bullmoose and Quintelte mines plan further layoffs by August 30, while West Fraser and Canfor shift lumber by truck to rail to stay open.
