Premier W A C Bennett will officially open the Chetwynd District Hospital this afternoon at 1 30 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Former Chetwynd President Marcel Lamarre serves as master of ceremonies for the opening and the program begins with an invocation by Bishop Fergus.
Doug Dimond states today’s official opening is not an admission opening and the hospital is not yet ready for patients. O’Grady the mayor and Frank Oberle chair follow the agenda with speakers including Bill Wanka, Don Marshall, Ed Smith. Keys pass from P Sorensen to architect R Cole, then to Mayor Oberle before ribbon cutting and public tours with refreshments.

The Chetwynd Centennial Committee announces a free 40 member Canadian Forces Naden band concert at Chetwynd Secondary School on September 7 as part of local celebrations. The band will also perform in Prince George Fort St John and Dawson Creek.
