Brake system hazard on mountain bikes prompts safety notice
Canada warns cantilever brakes on most mountain bikes may jam the front wheel and throw riders over the handlebars. Racing bikes with sidepull brakes are unaffected. Manufacturers volunteer add a front restraining device, possibly with a reflector, to prevent cable jamming. Owners should visit a bicycle shop for installation at low cost.
