Voters List Registration and Election Dates
The Court of Revision for the Federal Election will be held August 15 to 17 at Cal Temple residence in the Rodeo Grounds area. Election Day is September 4 at The Royal Canadian Legion from 8am to 8pm. Advance Polls run Saturday August 25, Monday August 27, and Tuesday August 28. All Canadian citizens 18 or older are eligible to vote.

Opening Blast Marks Quintette Mine Opening
Quintette Coal Limited held an August 10 1984 opening blast for Canadas largest surface coal mine. Crowds of hundreds watched from 6000 feet up at McConkey. Dignitaries including Bill Bennett Roman and Cliff Frame attended as Japanese and European officials joined BC and Canadian peers in celebratory remarks and a ribbon cutting.

Legion donors back Kelly Jackson fund in Peace River district
The Ladies Auxiliary to Legion Branch 258 in Chetwynd donated 250 dollars to the Kelly Jackson fund and challenged others to meet or beat it. Campaigns led by the Dawson Creek Lions Club gather regional support for four year old Kelly Jackson, daughter of Jim and Denise Jackson, suffering an aneurysm. The family seeks about 50 thousand dollars for travel and lodging, with 30 thousand for the operation at Methodist Hospital in Huston scheduled for August 14. Donations accepted at Bank of Nova Scotia, Bank of Commerce, Lake View Credit Union, and Ricky's Pancake House.
