Cold and hungry youth rescued from the Sukunka
A group of 15 youths aged 12 to 14, three camp counselors, and a parent were stranded on an island after their canoe trip on the Sukunka River. Heavy rain swelled the river, logs trapped canoes, and two rescues required two helicopters before all were found cold but safe. Participants included Dawson Creek youths and Quebec counselors from a BC Alberta French immersion camp.
