CJDC plans a rebroadcasting station at 1450 AM serving Chetwynd Hudson Hope and Moberly Lake. If CRTC approval comes by August 15 the station will start transmitting before Christmas with a local newsperson and a mobile unit to cover regional stories.

BC health officials announce approval to build a Community Health Centre in Hudson's Hope with a 250000 dollar project cost. The facility will house a doctors office, two exam rooms, a lab, an X ray room, public health offices and space for visiting nurses. Funding split 60 40 between the Ministry and Peace River Liard Regional Hospital District.

British Columbia introduces the Utilities Commission Act requiring provincial approval for energy exports and bringing B C Hydro under public regulation. Building permits surge doubling from 1979 totals
On August 1 1979 building permit value stood at 2384376 dollars this year permits reach 4881488 dollars a doubling of the prior year. July saw 16 permits while total 1980 permits rise to 51 driven by apartment house completions and new duplexes by Biddle and Fehr Construction and White Construction five suite project valued at 120000 dollars. Veto Vandalism Call Campaign Urges Citizen Reporting
In May the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce voiced concern over vandalism. RCMP and Patty Dunn urged residents to report wilful damage by calling police and saying Veto Vandalism, then hang up and callback if needed. Village of Chetwynd Hires Two New Staff Members
The Village of Chetwynd announces Doug Fleming as Administrator Assistant and Richard Bergey as Building Inspector. Fleming, from Duncan and a municipal college graduate, will work with the Village Council and Administrator Clerk Teslyk. Bergey, replacing Shep Canning, grew up in Dawson Creek and spent ten years as a journeyman carpenter in Prince George. He will handle most building inspections in Chetwynd, excluding electrical, with July activity noted.
