Lasser’s long mayoral run and community service in Chetwynd
Charlie Lasser moved to Chetwynd in 1974 to escape politics and soon became mayor. A founding Lions Club member, he held multiple regional board positions, led as mayor 1976–80 1982–93 and since 1996, and emphasized non partisan municipal service and revived downtown projects while noting declining volunteerism. He and Edith have three children, with sons running own businesses.
