Crown lands loan backs Chetwynd subdivision plan
The provincial government approved a 1,322,250 loan and transferred 14 percent hectares of Crown Land to the Village of Chetwynd for a residential subdivision south of Highway 97 east of the Legion Hall. The project will have 128 small lots priced from 10 000 to 11 000 dollars, with full community services. Economic Development Minister Don Phillips applauded the village and the Crown Land Programme backing.

July police activity reports thefts and vehicle incidents

Multiple thefts in Chetwynd including bicycles with yellow and purple frames and a purse from a car near the Chetwynd arena. A residence near the government store was entered with money taken. Court records up to August 4 convict several offenders
From July 14 to August 4 court records show Robert Pohl fined 50 dollars for allowing animals to run at large and Allan Alexander fined 750 for marijuana possession. Dunlevy Provincial Recreation Area Declared
The Peace River Region gains a new 110 hectare recreation area named Dunlevy Provincial Recreation Area on the north shore of Peace Beach at Williston Lake. Water user rates rise from 4.00 to 6.00 beginning in 1979 after third reading of By-law 202. The by-law awaits Victoria approval from the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
