Grizzly Valley Days marked its 20th anniversary with a Spirit of Tumbler Ridge event from July 30 to August 5 featuring tours art shows pageants golf and a major potluck dinner. About 700 residents attended the recreation centre gathering amid a growing community reopening after Quintette Coal closures.
Winners named for the Best Dressed competition at Tumbler Ridge include First place Zachary Marcheterre and Amanda Kruse as Little Mr and Little Miss Tumbler Ridge. Glenn Steele Gary Doonan and Don McPherson placed second or third in various categories with district participants and local sponsors.
Cst Jeff Everett arrived in Chetwynd after three months in the community and says it reminds him of Ft. Qu’apple. He entered the RCMP at the suggestion of a friend who wrote his recommendation and flew in quickly. Cst Phillippe Raymond, in Chetwynd six months, is from Trois rivieres and finds the town better than expected. Both are on a four year Limited Duration Posting, with a possible extension.
