Fall Fair plans underway in Chetwynd
Rick Davison leads a one day September 1 Fall Fair at Pine Valley Exhibition Park. A pancake breakfast starts at 7 am and a parade is planned with route to be decided. Events include baked goods quilts produce arts and crafts plus new categories in photography costumes and flowers. Car show noon to 3 pm. muscle antique 4x4 bikes require registration by August 25. Hudson's Hope to build new health unit this fall
Hudson's Hope moves toward construction of a new health unit after a provincial approval certificate cleared the final hurdle and tendering begins this week. The project, on the former school site, aims for a spring opening with 60 percent provincial funding and 40 percent from the Peace River Regional District, about 4.3 million in total before insurance offsets. Previously, services were provided from the municipal hall basement after the Gething Diagnostic and Treatment Centre burned down last September.

Timber supply review invites public input in Dawson Creek area
Residents, companies and agencies in the Dawson Creek Timber Supply Area are asked to share opinions before the timber supply review by the Ministry of Forests. The 811,662 hectare region covers 36 percent of suitable timber land with 539,773 hectares coniferous and 271,889 deciduous forests. The Chief Forester considers impacts on recreation, wildlife, economy, production, pests, salvage, and local facilities. Submissions are due by September 27 with a review visit in October and a final decision before Christmas.
