Endangered species list highlights local risks in Dawson Creek
The BC Endangered Species Coalition released a list showing several plants and animals at risk in the Dawson Creek Forest District. Notable threats include the Nelsons Sharp-Tailed Sparrow and Upland Sandpiper as critically imperiled locally, two freshwater fishes in danger, and the Northern Long Eared Myotis listed as grave danger or rare. The BCESC criticizes the NDP government for inadequate protection and urges comprehensive legislation amid limited provincial listings under the Wildlife Act.
