Arctic science talk sparks student interest in Northwest Passage
Denise Briggs reports that C.S.S. and local elementary students heard from Dr. David Barber of the University of Manitoba and Dr. John Yackel of the University of Calgary on Arctic climate change. Barber warned sea ice could shrink dramatically in 20 to 40 years, affecting the northern planet, and introduced the Canadian Arctic Shelf Exchange Study with a chance for Grade 11 students to join an ice cutter voyage to the North Pole in 2004.
