Teach your children about fire safety in Canada
The Canada Safety Council cites 495 children under 15 dying in fires from 1977 to 1979 and urges adults to model safe fire use. Teach kids that fire is not a plaything, plan escape routes, drill regularly, keep doors closed at night, know the fire department number, and avoid reentering to save toys or pets. Two safety guides featuring Elmer the Safety Elephant are available for schools.
