Shriners donation matched by local business in Chetwynd

Shriners Club representatives in Chetwynd presented over $1,000 to the Racel Duggan family to help with Wesley's travel expenses for heart surgeries. Wesley, 2, has a single ventricle condition and is at Stollery Hospital in Edmonton awaiting tests to decide on potential heart transplant. Paules Welding then matched the donation with an additional $1,050.

District to sponsor Chainsaw Carving reception in 2010

The District of Chetwynd will sponsor the International Chainsaw Carving Championship carver’s welcome reception on June 9 at a cost of 800. Twelve carvers are confirmed this year. Council donates 500 to Spirit of the Peace Powwow Society for the June 18 to 20 event in Taylor. Members will attend the North Central LG Association AGM in Smithers May 5 to 7 and are invited to Fort St John’s Municipal Government Day May 19.
