Public meeting updates on Chetwynd Hospital plans
Mayor Lasser voiced disappointment with a sixty person turnout at a public meeting about hospital changes. Northern Health Authority board member Lorne Dalke confirmed Chetwynd General Hospital will run 24 hours a day at least through year end and that current long term and palliative patients will not be displaced. He said no move would occur until suitable facilities exist and any changes won’t hurt regional industry. Dalke said the NHA agenda was tabled beyond April 8 to the next meeting.

Tourism workshops boost volunteers for Northern Way program
On April 8 Chetwynd hosted two Live a day the Northern Way workshops with 24 attendees. The Chamber of Commerce will coordinate the central program as regional champions in each community share tourism and recreation info, linking Dawson Creek and other towns to promote longer visits and higher spending. Volunteers are still needed to cover at least six more categories including sports activities.
