Inside the mind of a speeder study by ICBC psychologist
ICBC researchers led by John Vavrik study extreme speeders to design effective road safety messages. They identify categories such as aggressive racers seeking respect, speeders chasing time, egocentric anarchists who ignore rules, symbolic self completion drivers who equate status with cars, and those who mimic luxury on older cars. The research notes many speeders ignore limits, yet speeding yields little practical benefit and fuels crashes.
