A wagon collected mail along Market Street and delivered it to Lamokin depot as the railroad refuses extra pay. The clash over the disputed route shows which side can hold out longer. Rinse Hall notes also report the Energetic Nine baseball club reorganized at the Academy with officers Newberry Preston Spilker and others, plus a minor collision between two players during a practice session.

Notice from the Lighthouse Board that from April 2 1877 two fixed white range lights will mark the channel past Baker's Shoal and Reedy Island Delaware river on the New Jersey side three quarters mile below Finn's Point and one and five eighths miles apart The same date two lights will mark the Bombay Hook and Listons Point channel on the Delaware side about one and three quarters miles below Port Penn and one and three quarters miles apart Reedy Island light to be extinguished when range lights are lit.
