Loggers Injured in Chehalis Camp and Local Mr. and Mrs. Lentz Anniversary
Walter Seaman suffered a broken shoulder and crushed shoulder from a falling tree in a Chehalis county logging camp last week. Tom Ragan, at Capital mill, was badly hurt when a scaffold collapsed, injuring his right ankle with bones protruding. John Lentz and wife celebrated their silver anniversary north of town on Saturday evening. Andy Johnson sold his logging engine to Jim Smith and plans to exit the business. The county tax levy rose from 16 to 21 mills for 1897, amid populist county commissioner economics. Winlock’s total assessed value reached 71,797 with 46,655 real and 25,142 personal property. last year 55,000 with 300 exemptions.
