Fourth of July Celebration in Chehalis Sets Southwest Washington Record
Chehalis marked a grand Fourth of July with a large parade featuring twelve floats and elaborate decorations. The event drew 5,000 to 6,000 attendees from Lewis County and nearby areas, highlighted by the Maine battleship float and a Dewey impersonation. Capping the day were a balloon ascent and a lengthy fireworks display, followed by a busy carnival and band concerts.

Glass share of ancient vessels found near Ebheim
A report by M Lerthet notes glass urns dating to the third and fourth centuries found around Ebheim. The vessels, coated with metallic substances and containing traces of gold, silver, and lead, appear broken and partly melted. Lead poisoning residue suggests prior use and handling in ancient workshops. A later section hints at near-contemporary discovery and possible material substitutions.
