Guthrie Oklahoma December 30 1908 the Bristow Record editor M Nichols explains how a small city newspaper runs at a loss with weekly costs averaging 14 50 and receipts 9 25. He cites methods like robbing the job department posting bills and borrowing money to cover deficits while asking merchants for stronger support and a subscription raise.
Wanted land for sale or trade. Will trade for steer cattle or mules or sell 43 acres of fine farming land a few miles east of Checotah. This land will make a good home for some one. Y. AUDD.
Notice states trespassing forbidden on allottment and children's lots eight miles northwest of Checotah. Describes a red-heifer about 2 1/2 years old taken up two years ago with no marks but a brand resembling Pon on the left shoulder. Signed by Wm. Beatty.
Notices warn of absolute divorce actions against defendants in McIntosh and other counties with deadlines by January 28, 1909. Names include Rose Freeman, G W Freeman, J C Bell, Millie Bell, and attorneys Robertson, Turirt, L R Gordon, J B Lucas. Also includes a 1886 Hall's Catarrh Cure testimonial from Toledo Ohio and drug advertisements.
