The Harvester Company and electrical light manufacturers with Southern Grocers show willingness to reorganize under government views.
Union City Georgia reports an organized campaign to hold cotton at 15 cents or higher. Leaders from agricultural societies state officials and experts will tour Georgia starting the first week of October to distribute literature to farmers. The national Georgia committee led by President Charles S Barret and officials Heflin and Watson announced the plan. Financial contributions to fund the movement are coming in quickly.

Grady Johnson, 20, son of J. P. Johnson, a white farmer, was shot and killed last night by Celia Thomas, a Black woman, in her home in Marietta. Companions said they had attended a circus and the youth went to the woman’s house to buy whiskey. The woman was arrested.
Chicago reports show May wheat rising as much as 2 1-8 a bushel with gains in oats and strong early buying in Minneapolis and Duluth. Kansas City opened with a 3 cent jump tied to Canada’s reciprocity defeat as May wheat reached 103 8-4 and oats 49 1-2. Markets stayed lively with expectations of higher flour prices.
New York, Sept. 22. Wild trading sent prices tumbling then rallying as rumors swirled U. S. Steel could dissolve under Sherman law or face a government suit. Steel common plunged over four points at the open, with 245,000 shares sold in 30 minutes, later rebounding as bankers supported the market.
Nashville September 22 Champ Clark speaker of the U S House arrived as guest of the Tennessee State Fair and denied that his annexation remarks helped defeat reciprocity in Canada. He blamed President Taft for urging rapid reciprocity in the United States before Britain could push imperial tariff policies.
Columbia S C September 22 Reports that Gov Blease would not reappoint Commissioner of Agriculture E J Watson at the end of his term next February were quieted today when in an interview with a Daily Record reporter the governor denied promising the office to James Norton formerly Congressman and former comptroller general Gov Blease said Watson had done good work and might be reappointed The four year term Watson has held the position since 1904 when created He was president of the recent cotton conference at Montgomery.
Mr T J Blackman and wife sold to Mr H P Hunter a 50 by 150 foot lot on First Street near First and Cedar for $800. The transfer details the parcel size and street corner location.
The register of deeds issued a marriage license today to J H Howie and Miss Hattie Whitney. The document authorizes their marriage and records their intended union.
