A deadly blaze at a New York factory trapped workers on multiple floors. Flames and smoke forced women to jump from windows while fire escapes failed and rescuers struggled to reach the victims.
A Lambeth Furniture Company plant in Thomasville sustains a major fire. The blaze destroys the machine room and finishing area, leaving losses estimated at 25000 to 40000 dollars and about 199 workers unemployed. Origin unknown. insurer about 8000 dollars. Plant may be rebuilt soon.
