Galveston Texas March 15 the first provisional regiment held a parade for the first time since assembly at Fort Crockett. When the two other regiments arrive by transport this regiment will be ready for field service.Meanwhile Fifth division warships plan simulated attack at the coast and the scout cruiser Salem moved into Galveston harbor as the Tacoma nears from Puerto Cortez Honduras. Ninth Cavalry and Fourth Artillery due at San Antonio today enabling formation of an army division under Gen Carter. Ammunition also arriving for target practice at Leon Springs.

Capt Ellison Smythe is named president with A F McKissick and John Law as officers, headquarters planned in Greenville while details unfold.

Charleston March 15. A consolidation of 12 large cotton mills in South Carolina headed by the Pelzer Manufacturing Company of Pelzer plans a new Pelzer Corporation. The plans are not perfected but most listed mills are expected to join, with capital approaching 5 million dollars and over half a million spindles. Mills named include Pelzer, Belton, Gredel, Greenwood, Ninety Six, Watts, Riverside, Toxaway, Duncan, Conastee, Isaquena, and Saxon.
Federal officials in El Paso receive a Washington emanating order to stop smuggling of arms and ammunition across the Mexican frontier. The order cites El Paso as a key point from which aid has been sent to insurrectos and as a center where the revolution has been planned and fostered.
