Six men were fatally injured in an explosion at Hughstown No. 10 colliery of the Pennsylvania Coal Co. in Pittston. The mine was on fire as responders fought the blaze. Swan were convicted. 64 indicted members were acquitted. The case stems from a 1907 meeting and a dec 26 order to abstain from coal loading the steamship Habit, amid a longshoremen strike.

Associated Press report from Chapin Texas says Luis Sanchez wanted in Mexico for cattle theft and the murder of an entire family was captured at Mission Texas yesterday and imprisoned at Chapin. In two years Sanchez had several brushes with posses.

Charleston W V A Jan 25 A rumor circulated that a joint session of the West Virginia legislature would declare William E Chilton for the long term and Clarence Watson for the short term elected as United States senators amid bribery allegations. Both men denied the bribery charges and Republicans were not expected to attend.
