Victims jailed in case be a ln case Buried Alive tale
A missing San Diego woman Ruth Latham 51 was found nude and alive in a desert area near Calexico after saying she had been beaten buried alive by kidnappers. Two women Mrs Beatrice Winns 51 and Mrs Lucille M Whisen 36 were jailed on suspicion of kidnapping and attempted murder. Police say Winns who is married to a utility executive and Whisen who works for the U S Customs Service were allegedly abducted with three men and a woman and taken to Calexico before being released. Latham described the assailants to a California highway patrolman and an ambulance was summoned to treat her shock dehydration and injuries. The case remains under investigation with further questions about the involvement of a Mexican man and the earlier civil suit linking Winns to Latham.

Irate mother mauls principal after school disruption
In Chattanooga Tennessee on September 4 1965 principal G S Mayberry of Harrison Elementary was beaten by an irate mother Emma West after he suggested her children attend another school. Mayberry received seven stitches for head wounds and later swore out a felonious assault warrant against West who was released on one thousand dollars bond pending a Sessions Court hearing set for September 18. West and her mother Hattie Marshall sought an assault warrant against Mayberry but were told the judge would rule at the hearing.
