Morgantown November 27 Dr Daniel Boardman Purinton longtime head of West Virginia University and Denison University died at his Morgantown home aged 83 He was born February 15 1860 and began teaching aged 16 after early schooling in Preston County and Smithfield Pa. He led WVU 1901 1912 and earlier served as acting president 1881 1889 His successor at WVU was Dr Thomas E Hodges who later died. He also served as president of Denison University Granville Ohio before returning to Morgantown.
