Amsterdam reports the Dutch cabinet on a prolonged session annulling army furloughs and requisitioning transport while preparing for widespread inundation along the Holland water line. Berlin reports German cavalry and supplies massing near the Dutch border as Britain and France view invasion risks.
Nazi officials blame foreign agents for the Munich beer hall blast that narrowly missed Hitler and the Nazi leadership. Rewards total 600000 marks offered. Himmler says leads point abroad as a major manhunt unfolds.

It says the first bomb against the dictatorship exploded in Munich and promises many more. The station has long annoyed Nazi authorities by broadcasting foreign news and anti Nazi propaganda despite police efforts to suppress it.
Fritz Kuhn national leader of the Bund faces a New York trial on 10 counts of grand larceny and forgery for allegedly stealing $5,641 from Bund funds. Six jurors were seated after meticulous voir dire amid defense motions for postponement and venue change.
West Virginia private industry workforce hits record October high says Administrator C P McKenna. Fewer unemployed than since 1929 prosperity peak as railroad orders at Keyser boost demand. 3,296 placements in October, job seekers drop to 62,955, skilled labor down to 2,269 from 3,962 a month earlier.

Temperature fell to 22 degrees in the city as thermometers showed 27 degrees yesterday. United Fuel Gas readings ranged from 7 to 8 am. An additional drop is expected tomorrow, while overcast skies should keep temperatures above freezing today. Yesterday’s high reached 58, then fell to 44 by 7:30 and 40 is forecast for this morning.

The workmen's compensation fund paid 5,071,558 to injured workers and families of fatally injured workers in the year ending June 30. The fund collected 5,454,106.96 in premiums from 6,522 subscribers on wages totaling 315,985,887.60 and ended with a 260,761.34 net surplus and 29,113,339.87 in assets. Accidents numbered 29,944 with 320 fatalities. the prior year had 33,850 accidents and 328 fatalities. By June 30, 1939 there were 3,642 widows 5,304 children and 176 other dependents of fatally injured workers.
In Wheeling on November 9 a judge fined Lee Lelal $10 for speeding while rushing his wife for an emergency appendix operation despite a doctor's note orders. The ruling held the doctor’s order did not excuse speeding under the state traffic laws.
T. C. McKinley, state director of West Virginia Brewers and Beer Distributors, warned three Charleston retailers they could lose licenses unless alleged illegal practices stop. Similar warnings went to 15 retailers in Elkins, Shepherdstown, Martinsburg and Keyser. He cited illegal on premises consumption and disorderly conduct as cited violations.

The border incident drew attention as the region is viewed as a potential invasion corridor by British and French strategists directing forces along the Belgian frontier. An armed exchange arose when a German car approached Holland and a Dutch car moved toward it.
