Ex-convict charged in Summers Street murder
Oscar Ervin Schoolcratt, 26, arrested by city police and charged with the murder of Arthur Herman Goad, 48, Sears furniture department manager. Goad died after a head injury from a blunt weapon found in Young's alley near downtown Summers Street. Goad was transported to Charleston General Hospital but died about two hours after admission. Police report a bloody club as the alleged murder weapon and say Goad fought with Schoolcraft prior to the attack.
