The U. S. Coal and Coke company, parent to U S Steel, ordered more than 2,500 miners to report for work tomorrow. Officials of the United Mine Workers had claimed four mines would stay closed until a union contract was signed. Mines had operated without a contract prior to the April 1 shutdown.

The Florida senate voted 28 to 8 to defeat a Townsend style older age pension bill funded by a 2 percent business tax. Sen. Charley Johns, author, said it was the first Townsend plan measure before a state legislature. Dr. Francis Townsend opposed the bill via telegram.

McGrumphy says a physician will run tests and a chemist will analyze blood, with a private lab in the doctor’s office and a concealed wedding process for 11 dollars.
