BECKLEY May 6 Warren Cadle 24 of Winding Gulf surrendered to Raleigh county officers and was jailed on suspicion in the death of constable James L Neely 43. Neely died after a gun battle with two moonshiners near Hot Coal last Wednesday. Cudle had been held on moonshine charges and admitted shooting Neely while at the still but prosecutors planned to change the charge to murder. He claimed he bought liquor from Kelly Tobeson and that Johnson had a pistol and rifle, though he did not say if shots were fired.

Isidore Schwabe 77 founder of the Schwabe Clothing company in Charleston died yesterday at his Park Royal apartment in New York City. Surviving are his widow Betty Schwabe and three sons Harry Irwin and Charles with residences in New York and St. Louis. His brother Albert Schwabe and partners attended funeral services in New York. Schwabe served as a colonel on the staff of former Governor Wesley Atkinson and was a pioneer West Virginia merchant regarded for his public service. He retired about ten years ago and spent his later years in retirement in New York.
