Estate Beneficiary Liable in Debt in South Charleston
The will of John D. Creecephell’s grandson Harald Lee Campbell is challenged over a $2,000 debt tied to a house and lot in South Charleston. Circuit Judge F Bouchelle ruled that the debt should not be paid from the undevised real estate, as the estate's distribution favors the widow and three-fourths to the grandson. The case centers on whether the real estate debt is a charge on the inherited property or the heirs’ responsibility.
