Man Draws Same Five Year Term As in 1963
A 21 year old Charleston man, John Freeman, again drew a five year penitentiary sentence in Intermediate Court for the same unarmed robbery charge. Freeman previously received the term April 19, 1963, which was set aside in the northern U.S. District Court for lack of counsel. He returned for further action and pleaded guilty rather than face trial, hoping probation. Judge Thompson denied probation but gave credit for time served.
