Board Okays 92 Applications For Retirement
Fifty two retirement applications were approved by the State Teachers Retirement Board in a two hour session in Gov Pattesons office. Executive Secretary Hyde said about 80 percent were teachers with custodial staff making up the rest. The meeting approved 135 requests to employ personnel over 65 years, mostly custodial, and authorized a $4.1 million investment in long term federal securities for the new fiscal year starting July 1. The board also welcomed Herbert Schupbach to a five year term on the board beginning July 1.

The government would cover the gap between market and parity for farmers using federal funds, a move opponents call a subsidy and a dole. The committee chose a three crop trial run as cost estimates were unavailable.
