Court Rules 2 Pay For Beer Stock
The West Virginia Supreme Court ruled two men are each liable for 50000 under 1968 stock subscription agreements with Little Switzerland Brewing Co. Oxley and Ellison had signed to buy 5000 shares more at 10 dollars each. The court reversed lower court rulings that denied liability and held the notes created binding obligations. The decision also disqualified a mayor from presiding when pecuniary interest exists and disciplined attorney Dean E. Lewis for ethical violations.
