Gardens Fight Insect Attacks Warned By County Agent
Kanawha county agricultural agent Brooks V. Taugher urged gardeners to protect crops as insects intensify in cabbage broccoli tomatoes and related plants. He warned cabbage maggots beetles and diseases threaten early crops and stressed prevention through regular sprays or dusts every seven to ten days including Zerlate and copper compounds. Aphids on tomatoes can be controlled with nicotine and plant treatments as advised.
