The Charleston Gazette reports the Security Loan campaign has sold $10,554,000 in U S savings funds toward a $30 million quota. A C Spurr, chairman, notes sales for the week ending June 5 total $44,085 and with the period extended to July 16, county workers are reminded that nearly a month remains.
Spurr called a $19,500,000 one month sales order a big tank but said the state has crossed larger barriers before. He predicted the quota would be reached by July 16. The chairman urged bounty chairmen to pledge to ask one person daily to buy a bond and start a chain to expand purchases of U S savings bonds.
An official of the Southern West Virginia Auto Club urged motorists and pedestrians to take it easy on Independence Day weekend as heavy holiday traffic looms. The note followed remarks by Mrs. Grate O. Austin, executive secretary, about safety measures for travelers and children amid expected peak loads across the nation.
Mrs Harry E Baldock hosts a Wednesday afternoon party at 1217 Edgewood Dr to celebrate Ann Baldock turning eight. Neighbors and relatives are invited to join the celebration in honor of the birthday girl.
