South Korea reports 17 dead across six counties after a sudden flash flood. Rescue crews work with aid teams to reach affected areas as authorities warn of continued danger. North Korean invaders push near Seoul, slipping to within 20 miles, raising tensions as South Korean officials scramble defenses.
A massive parade of two miles of earth moving equipment stretched through Charleston for Operation Coonskin led by West Virginia National Guard units. Spectators praised the display and local leaders called it a landmark in community cooperation for a new park project.

Navy ships and Air Force planes for safe delivery. Washington approved the aid after State Department meetings led by Dean Acheson.
Vatican sources today expressed alarm over the fate of Catholic missions in Korea as Communist forces threaten the region. Pope Pius XII reportedly followed news broadcasts with anxious concern though there was no official Vatican comment.
In Chicago on June 25 AFL switchmen walked out against five large Western and Midwestern railroads. Trains stopped on four lines while the Great Northern reported normal passenger service on its 8000 mile system with some freight curtailment. About 60 Great Northern switchmen were in the union strike. most workers belonged to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Traces of a missing Northwest Airlines DC-4 were found in Lake Michigan about 12 miles northwest of St Joseph Michigan. Coast Guard reports wing sections bearing Northwest Airlines and other debris retrieved from the 110 foot deep lake. It appeared all 58 aboard were killed when the plane vanished before dawn Saturday during a violent thunderstorm.

Weston reports about 2 million dollars in flood damage after last night’s flash floods. The river peaked at 24 feet the highest on record for the area. No deaths or serious injuries reported as waters flooded Main Street to four feet and swamped homes forcing residents to take shelter on rooftops.
