Allied air strike cripples Manchurian power complex

Allied warplanes slammed North Korea's Suiho Dam and four other power centers on the Yalu border, leaving Pyongyang without power. More than 300 fighter bombers from the U S Air Force Navy and Marines faced heavy ground fire with one Navy plane lost and four others hit. Communist jets were seen but did not defend the Suiho Plant. The strike, tied to Panmunjom truce talks, was described as a strategic effort to break the deadlock and pressure Reds to resume talks. The report notes the operation could affect Vladivostok and Port Arthur power links and cites Vice Admiral C Turner Joy explaining the decision.
