Evans Markets to Merge Warehousing Operations

Evans Markets announces consolidation of part of its warehousing with Murjrayville Pennsylvania warehouse of Thorofare Supermarkets. The Evans bakery facilities are sold to Ohio Valley Baking Co. and Evans offices will close after August 1.

Miracle Crash Kills Mother and Baby in Hampton

A Marine A6A intruder collision over Chesapeake Bay caused a deadly crash near Buckroe Beach. A mother Mrs. Mary Gallant 30 and her infant son Donald died, 44 residents injured, ten homes leveled, and two other pilots bailed out amid explosions and fires that marred the scene. Jo seph Gallant, husband and Langley Air Force Base employee, was away at a meeting. children David 10 and Donna 7 were visiting neighbors. The cleanup was described as miraculous with two fatalities confirmed early Tuesday after initial casualty tallies varied.
